Quantum Aop Vs Salt

A home swimming pool is a dream come true for most people; however, some important factors need to be recognised to ensure the wellbeing of your family. Sanitising the water is a very important part of owning a pool but a task which is often seen as a chore and an automated solution is often considered. The Elecro Quantum AOP and saltwater chlorinators are two such products that seemingly meet these lifestyle choices and here are some specifics about both products; but which one would you choose?

Saltwater chlorinator

A common misconception when sanitising a swimming pool via a saltwater chlorinator is that you are not adding chlorine to your pool and is therefore safer for bathers. In fact, chlorine is being produced by the device and with the addition of salt to the pool water results in a very aggressive environment. Salt is highly corrosive and even stainless steel is affected by its presence which quickly deteriorates the appearance of pool surrounds and damages equipment.

Chlorine, despite being an excellent sanitiser is a harmful chemical with many drawbacks which often cause health problems such as itchy skin and eye irritation to name but a few. Although the lowest effective levels should be used, bather’s safety is of paramount importance and such levels are often in the region of 3-4ppm, but despite this, not all harmful microorganisms maybe destroyed.

Another misconception of installing such a device, is the pool owner can leave this to maintain the pool with little or no intervention which is inaccurate. For example, if unchecked the pH can quickly rise to levels where chlorine is no longer active and therefore dangerous microorganisms can thrive. Salt levels need to be monitored and adjusted accordingly; if too much salt is added, the only way to reduce this level is to remove a quantity of water from the pool; if not enough salt is present, the unit will not work.

Elecro Quantum AOP

In stark contrast, the easy to install Elecro Quantum AOP units will give peace of mind as ALL pathogens will be destroyed by the Photocatalytic Oxidation process regardless of factors such as pH levels, thereby keeping your family safe. Several natural processes occur as the pool water passes through the unit with only pure water returning to the pool. Although a residual or secondary sanitiser is recommended in conjunction with Quantum and chlorine may be chosen, this will not oxidise quickly as pathogens will be destroyed primarily by Quantum and the dose rate of chlorine can be reduced by as much as 80%. This low-level residual is required within the main body of the pool water to eradicate pollutants and pathogens introduced by environmental factors and bathers alike, prior to the water entering the circulatory system where all contaminates will be eliminated by Quantum.

There are many alternatives to chlorine that can be used as a residual or secondary sanitiser such as hydrogen peroxide or ionisation.

Once installed this cost-effective solution requires no maintenance; it is equipped with a lamp life indicator so when the UV lamp which initiates the photocatalytic reaction needs to be replaced this is displayed.

Photocatalytic Oxidation is the most powerful form of sanitisation known to mankind and is harnessed inside the reaction chamber of Quantum AOP (Advanced Oxidation Process) units using Nano Crystal Technology.

As a result of the processes occurring inside the Quantum, including the production of hydroxyl radicals, the treated water is free of all oil-based substances such as sun creams and all organics including urea are totally removed resulting in sparkling water. This salt free, crystal-clear water, ensures your swimming pool is safe for all your family. Quantum does so much more than UV. It doesn’t just de-activate micro organisms such as viruses and bacteria. It actually destroys them, along with a broad range of other contaminants such as sun oil, feacale matter, and dead cells, although you will still need to use some form of sterilisation such as chlorine or hydrogen peroxide, but the levels needed will be much lower compared with traditional pool disinfection and the cleanliness of the pool will be ultimatly unrivaled.
